Sounds like we are about to read a column from a magazine.
WOW - look at your checkbook/bank account transactions and see what you spend money on. Then look at your calendar and see where and with whom do you spend your time with/on? I spent a lot of time on this app on my phone that is new (at least to me) called Houzz. Since Carey and I have been discussing a new home, this devotion today really has me thinking. Jesus challenges us to rethink everything surrounding the way we live.
What are the best things in my life? Carey, Claire, Mom, Dad, Jason/Michele, Aidan, Alec, Cathy, Whitney, Ashley, Big D, Nicole - I could go on.
Humans tend to love things and use people, instead of thinking that we should LOVE people and use things. We are always in it to buy things. We've been very blessed this year, but I still find myself always worried about money. I need to stop worrying about and keep doing what we've always done. God has ALWAYS provided.
No place like home...well looks like we're building a new one. I hope it doesn't go overboard. YIKES if it does. I'll have to keep myself disciplined. I'll have to trust God to help me with this task.
POINT TO PONDER: You need to work on your attitudes toward money, things and people.
VERSE TO LIVE: "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal, but store up for yourself treasures in heaven. Matthew 6:19 - 20 AMEN
QUESTION TO CONSIDER:
What is the most practical way you can live this teaching in the coming week? Keep doing this things that I'm doing this season of Lent. More prayer time, less soft drinks, more family time.
Claire has a lot to learn. It's my job to teach her. lost my train of thought here... :(
PRAYER: Jesus, please rearrange my priorities. Help me to live a little more like you each day.
I think this year is the year that I intend my Lenten "promises" through the end of the year, make them yearly resolutions. No unnecessary shopping (since we're talking about building a house). More praying...not sure I can make it the entire year without a soft drink. I will refrain from drinking them in restaurants b/c they over charge for them.
